Mary Suzanne “Suzie” Ware McGinty passed away on Thursday, Feb. 15th at Heartland Hospice Home of Macon, GA with family at her bedside. She was born on July 1, 1936 in Bainbridge, GA to the late William McCleod Ware and Ermine Waddell Laney Ware. Suzie was raised in Fitzgerald Georgia, graduated from Anges Scott College in 1958 and lived the last six years in Greensboro, GA.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, William Ray McGinty, Jr.; daughters Rhonda Lynn Cecil and fiancée Gary Michael Pike Sr.; Donna Ware Morrison and husband Randall Lynn Morrison; son William Ray McGinty III and brother William Fleming Ware and wife Connie Ware. She has two grandsons and two step-grandchildren of whom she is very proud; Grant Prescott Morrison, Blake Chandler Morrison, Matthew Lee Cecil, Candice Lenea Arrington and her husband Patrick Arrington. Sister-in-laws include Donna Lee McGinty, Dixie McGinty and Nancy Graham.
Among many beautiful traits, Suzie will be remembered for her friendliness, compassion, grace and strength of character. Music was important in Suzie’s life. She was the accompanist for the Fitzerald High School Glee Club for 2 years, then sang in various glee clubs and church choirs throughout her adult life. She was active in numerous organizations and enjoyed participating in tennis, golf, bridge, the stock market and had a love of books. She has been a member of the First United Methodist Church in Greensboro, GA.
The primary service celebrating Suzie’s life will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Greensboro, GA at 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 19th. The Reverend Richard Chewning will officiate. The family will briefly greet guests afterward in the church’s Family Life Center. A graveside service will be held at Pincrest Memory Gardens in Moultrie, GA on Wednesday February 21 at 12 noon.
