Mary Louise Nastase “Marie” Brandt, age 95, native of New Orleans, La until 2005 when she moved to Georgia died March 10, 2015 at Boswell Parker Health & Rehabilitation in Greensboro, GA. She was born on June 4, 1919, in New Orleans, Louisiana to the late Joseph Liborio Nastase and Lena Tortorich Nastase. She was a graduate of McDonough High School. She married Joseph Emile Brandt whom she was married to for 41 years till he died in 1982. Once she raised her family she obtain work and was the Manager of the service and policy department in New Orleans for Sears for 25 years until her retirement in 1981. She belonged to the American Legion for many years and enjoyed singing in a coral group, one that she organized and sang in until she was 85 she would go sing for the elderly in nursing homes, she loved to dance and enjoyed life to the fullest... Marie was a lifelong Catholic and a member of St. Mathews Catholic Church where she lived in Harahan, LA until 2005 at which time she moved to Willow Run Retirement Home in Greensboro, GA to be near her daughter and her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Lena Nastase, and all of her siblings, Cecile Nastase, Joseph Nastase and Anna Nastase. She leaves behind her son David E. Brandt of Hammond, LA and a daughter, Brenda Brandt Saltamacchio Married to Ray Saltamacchio of Lake Oconee, Eatonton,Ga; five grandchildren, Debra Brandt, Pete Freeman (Leanne), Dawn Nesmith (Danny), Stacy Hembree (Brian) and Angela Romero (Jose); and a step Grandson, Ryan Saltamacchio (Heather); thirteen great grandchildren, Lacey, Sarah, Elizabeth, McClain, Brandt, Madison, Christopher, Noah, Avery, Tyler ,Taylor, Makaya, Lauren and six great great grandchildren, Britton, Sarah, Brandt, Isabella, Aubriy, Landon and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be held, Sunday, March 15, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at McCommons Chapel, 109 W. Broad Street, Greensboro, GA 30642 with Rev. Michael Wells officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Metairie, LA. McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
