Martha Oline Almond Mullis, 97, of Union Point, GA, died Saturday, December 30, 2006. A lifelong resident of Greene County born on August 4, 1909, she was the daughter of the late Lewis Glenn Almond and Maude Wilson Almond. She attended school in Penfield. For fifty-two years she worked for Union Manufacturing in Union Point as a knitter. Mrs. Mullis was a loving mother and grandmother and was a member of First Baptist Church of Union Point.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John William "J. W." Mullis; a daughter, Hilda JoAnne Powell; a son, Harry Lewis Mullis; and a brother Emory Glynn Almond. She is survived by a daughter, Louweida M. Roberts of Jacksonville, FL; three sisters, Louise Hughes of Columbus, GA, Susie Smith of Union Point, GA and Ruby Johnston of Seale, AL; six grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and a number of other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, January 1, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at McCommons Chapel with Rev. Leonard Ezell officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Union Point. Serving as pallbearers are Delmus Powell, Johnny Walters, Wilson Smith, Brian Smith, Mark Higdon and Tim Sims.
