Margaret Marchman Obituary

Margaret Amerson Marchman, age 81, of Greensboro, Georgia died Friday, August 22, 2008 at Minnie G. Boswell Memorial Hospital. She was born December 10, 1926 in Jefferson County, Georgia to the late Clinton Edell Amerson and Annie Laura Daniels Amerson. Her parents later moved to Milledgeville, Georgia, where she completed her high school education at Peabody High School. She later attended business school in Macon, Georgia, and worked for an insurance company there. She had always had a desire to be a nurse and started nursing school at the Macon Hospital. She was in nurse''s training when she met Ray Marchman in October of 1951. In June of 1952 she and Ray married in Hardwick, Georgia. To them were later born Emily, Andy, Charles, Dan and Darryl. She was an active member of First Baptist Church , Greensboro.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings Lester, William, Johnny, Tommy and Commie Amerson and Esther Amerson Rainwater. She is survived by her husband of 56 years; daughter, Emily; sons, Andy and wife Marcia, Charles and wife Jennifer, Dan and wife Tina, Darryl and wife Katie and close family friend, Dianne Guy. She is also survived by grandchildren, Britt and wife Kate, Kyle, Tiffany, Courtney, Breanna, Blake, Sean, Noah and Maggie Marchman and Ryan Bagnal; and a host of other friends and relatives.

Ray and Margaret had lived in Atlanta and Forest Park, Georgia until 1967 when they moved to Greensboro, Georgia. Margaret was a teacher''s aide in the public schools for 20 years, working with handicapped children. She also taught a Sunday School class for handicapped children for several years.

Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, August 24, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Greensboro with Rev. Michael Hardy and Rev. Dr. Norman Waldrip officiating. Interment will follow at Greenview Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Mell Marchman, Bob Voyles, Bobby Durham, Jimmy Finch, Bobby Duvall and Paul Abernathy. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the First Baptist Church Bldg Fund, 203 S. Main Street, Greensboro, GA 30642.
