Emma Lorena Lewis Frederick, age 98, of Union Point, Georgia, died Friday, December 9, 2011 at her residence surrounded by her loved ones. Mrs. Frederick was born June 18, 1913, in Greene County, Georgia to the late John Talley Lewis and Mamie Viola Bulloch Lewis. In 1930 she graduated from Greensboro High School and later from Georgia Alabama Business School in Macon, GA. She worked for Sinclair Roofing Company in Atlanta for six years and then for the United States Navy in Washington, DC as a secretary for two years. The next two years she worked at the Georgia State Capitol in the tag Department. Her last job was for the Agricultural Stabilization and Conversation Service in Greene and Hancock Counties. For a while she lived in Maryland until her second husband passed away in 2004. She then moved to Covington to be close to family and several years ago moved back to Greene County. She was the oldest living member of Liberty United Methodist Church.
She is survived by a niece, Priscilla Hassett of Union Point, GA; a nephew, Larry Lewis of Union Point, GA, four stepdaughters; three stepsons; and a number of great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Benjamin F. Glaser in February of 1979 and her second husband, John Arthur Frederick, Sr.; two brothers, Howard Talley Lewis and Wyles Augustus Lewis; and a niece, Carolyn Lewis McCorvey.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, December 12, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at McCommons Chapel with Rev. Edward A. Swehla officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until time for the service at McCommons Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Liberty United Methodist Church Cemetery, 3091 Liberty Church Road, White Plains, GA 30678.
