Lloyd Lee Wyatt
Lloyd L. “Sonny” Wyatt, 84, of Greensboro, GA, passed away peacefully at home with his wife on Saturday, October 3, 2015. Born in Greensboro, GA on March 11, 1931, Sonny traveled the world, but returned to his home town in retirement.
Sonny was born and raised in Greensboro, the only son of legendary Georgia lawman Sheriff L.L. Wyatt, and his wife Estelle. Upon graduating from the University of Georgia he joined the Army in 1953. During his commission in the Army he served in Germany, India and Vietnam. He retired as a Colonel in 1983. His final duty station was Washington DC.
Sonny was a devoted family man that loved football and car racing. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Madeleine (McDaniel) Wyatt, his children Andy, Jeff and Cissi, and his grandchildren, Drew, Scott, Walker, Caldwell, Maddie and Mac. Sonny was predeceased by his second son Lee who passed in 2006.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at 12:00pm at McCommons Funeral Homes, 109 W. Broad St., Greensboro, GA 30642. Memorial services with full military honors will follow at 1pm. Flowers may be sent to the same address.
