Lina Belle Sherrer Obituary

Lina Belle Hunt Sherrer, age 85, of Union Point, GA, died Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at St. Mary’s Hospice House in Watkinsville, GA. Born in Greensboro on May 31, 1932 she was the daughter of the late Reginald Samuel Hunt and Mildred Doris Copelan Hunt. She graduated from school at Meadowcrest in 1950. On December 17, 1955 she married Robert Thomas “Bobby” Sherrer, Sr. and at the time of his death in November of 2005, they had been married nearly fifty years.  For twenty-seven years she worked as a receiving clerk at J. C. Penney in Forest Park, GA. She lived in Atlanta for twelve years and in Riverdale for thirty-nine years returning to Union Point in October of 1998.  She was a member of Walker United Methodist Church in Greensboro, GA, but also attended Bethesda Baptist Church in Union Point, GA. Family came first but she enjoyed crocheting, playing bingo, sewing and her little Chihuahua dog.

In addition to her parents, Rex and Mildred Hunt, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert T. Sherrer, Sr.; son, Reginald Thomas “Reggie” Sherrer; brother, R. B. Hunt; and great granddaughter, Brittney Hope Smith.  She is survived by a daughter, Charlotte Sherrer (Dick)of Greensboro, GA; a son, Robert Thomas Sherrer, Jr. (Cindy) of Covington, GA; brother, Warner Hunt (Mary); seven grandchildren, Kimberly Thomas (Stewart), Rae Lynn Moss (Joey), Haley Summers (Jarrad), Alan Sherrer, Jon Sherrer, Jessica Short (Josh) and Kim Sherrer; eight great grandchildren, James Smith, Alex Smith, Cade Thomas, Emily Waddell (Hunter), David Adriance, Steven Corry, Elliot Summers and Nathan Short; nieces, nephews and many friends. 

Graveside Services will be held on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Greenview Cemetery, Memorial Drive, Greensboro, GA 30642 with Rev. Bruce Lovin officiating. Serving as pallbearers are grandsons and great grandsons: Jon Sherrer, James Smith, Steven Corry, David Adriance, Hunter Waddell and Joey Moss. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. Saturday morning until time for the service at the funeral home. McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
