Karyn Charlene Usry Holcomb

Karyn Charlene Usry Holcomb, age 45, of Greensboro, GA, died Sunday, August 5, 2007 at Minnie G. Boswell Memorial Hospital. Born in Oglethorpe County on August 25, 1961, she was the daughter of the late Dorsey Millard Usry, Sr. and Helen Gertrude Chandler Usry. In 1979 she graduated from Oglethorpe County High School and on February 16, 1991 she married Danny Holcomb. She worked for Roses in Athens, was a packer at NIBCO in Greensboro and worked for Stewart Finance Company in Union Point. Her latest job was as a reservationist at the lodge at Durhamtown in Union Point where she dearly enjoyed making everyone feel at home as though they were part of the Durhamtown family. In her leisure time she enjoyed her family and loved to read.

Kay is survived by her husband, Danny Ray Holcomb of Greensboro, GA; a daughter, Brandi Holcomb of Greensboro, GA; a son, Rusty Davis Holcomb of Greensboro, GA; three sisters, Louise Kidd of Union Point, GA, JoAnn Branch of Brunswick, GA and Dianne Chandler of Nicholson, GA; a brother, J. R. "Butch" Usry of Dyersburg, TN; an aunt, Marion Higgins of Arnoldsville, Ga; an uncle, Don Chandler of Marietta, GA; and a number of nieces, nephews other relatives and a host of friends.

Memorial Services will be held Tuesday, August 7, 2007, at 3:00 p.m. at McCommons Chapel in Greensboro with Rev. Merle Arnold, Rev. Jim Olds and Rev. Colin Duncan officiating. The family will receive friends at the historic Hall-Thomas House next door to the funeral home from 2:00 p.m. until time for the service. McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
