Joe Hayes Obituary

Joe Thomas “J. T.” Hayes, age 68, of the Liberty Community of Greene County, died Sunday, October 12, 2008 at Athens Regional Medical Center. Born in Gwinnett County on August 25, 1940 he was the son of the late Amos Howard Hayes and Myrtie Martin Hayes. He later moved to Greene County where he has lived for the last thirty-one years. He was a graduate of Lilburn High School and married Bonnie Brownlee in 1960. He was the owner and operator of Hayes Construction. J. T. was a wonderful and loving husband, father, and grandfather and had a great love of hunting, fishing, horses, mules and wagon trains. In addition to his wife of 48 years, Bonnie Brownlee, of the Liberty Community, he is survived by a daughter, Barbara Jean Davis and husband Billy of Siloam, GA; two sons, Billy Joe Hayes and wife Dana of Siloam, GA and Stanley Hayes and wife Teri of the Liberty Community; sister, Joyce White of Mountain Park, GA; two brothers, Raymond Hayes and wife Delores of Dacula, GA and Almond Hayes of Lawrenceville, GA seven grandchildren, Heather Alliston, Rebecca Hayes, Taylor Hayes, Bryan Davis, Brad Davis, Brock Davis and Brooke Boswell; three great grandchildren, Matthew Davis, Madalyn Davis and Makayla Davis; and a number of other relatives and friends. Graveside Services will be held on Wednesday, October 15, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Liberty United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Jeff Bishop and Rev. Edward A. Swehla officiating. Serving as pallbearers are David Brownlee, Willard Brownlee, Randy White, Ronald Martin, Kevin McCabe and J. T. Beasley. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday night at the funeral home. The family requests that any memorials be made to the American Heart Association, P. O.
