Gloria Elizabeth McDonald Vinson
Gloria Elizabeth McDonald Vinson, age 77, of White Plains, GA passed away Saturday, July 22, 2017 at her residence with her loved ones. Born in Greensboro, GA, on April 4, 1940, she was the daughter of Olly Mae Chasteen McDonald and the late Clarence McDonald. Gloria graduated from Greensboro High School. On October 31, 1959, she married James Reuben “Jim” Vinson, Sr. For a while she worked for DeKalb Medical Center, Inc. in accounting. She served her community by volunteering for many years. One of her greatest enjoyments was visiting the local nursing homes and sharing something with each resident. Gloria loved spending time with family and friends, doing for others, cooking and working with flowers. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Greensboro which she dearly loved.
Survivors include her husband, Jim Vinson of White Plains, GA; mother, Olly McDonald of Rome, GA; a son, Mike Vinson of White Plains, GA; brother Pete McDonald of Rome, GA; and many close friends. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her son, James R. Vinson, Jr.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at McCommons Chapel, 109 W. Broad Street, Greensboro, GA 30642 with Rev. Mark Jones officiating. Interment will follow in the Greenview Cemetery, Memorial Drive, Greensboro, GA 30642. Serving as pallbearers are Bill Benton, Ron Hopkins, Tim McCommons, Dick Morman, Bill Strom, and Will Strom.
