Elisa Ivie Channell

Elisa Ivie Channell of Blairsville, GA , formerly of Greensboro, GA, died Friday, January 9, 2015 at Union County Nursing Home in Blairsville, GA at the age of 87.  A native of Greensboro, she was born October 4, 1927, the daughter of the late William Britt Ivie, Sr. and Clarice O’Neal Ivie.  She graduated from Greensboro High School and married Lennie Conway Channell.  She spent her working career as a bookkeeper for Channell Grocery Store and Mary Leila Cotton Mills.  Mrs. Channell was a member of Siloam Presbyterian Church.  After the death of her husband, Lennie Channell, she moved to Blairsville, GA.  She always enjoyed camping, fishing and cooking barbecues with her husband Lennie and also enjoyed reading.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Lennie Channell in February of 2004; sister, Dollie D. James; brother, William B. Ivie, Jr.; and her beloved dog, Scooby.  She is survived by a sister, Peggy I. Harris of Athens, GA; brother, Bobby L. Ivie of Austin, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside Services will be held Monday, January 12, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Siloam Cemetery, Church Street, Siloam, GA  30665 with Rev. James Bowen officiating. Serving as pallbearers are Bobby Ivie, Joe Nalley, Pat Harris, Charles Harris, David Ivie, Chris James and Jordan Harris.  McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
