Claude Campbell Obituary

Claude Columbus “Claudie” Campbell, age 97, of the Centennial Community, died Tuesday, July 12, 2005 at Minnie G. Boswell Memorial Hospital. One of eleven children he was born in Royston, GA on February 13, 1908 to the late Albert Sidney Campbell and Rena Turner Campbell. At the age of eight he moved to Greene County and attended grammar school in a one room school house on his property in the Centennial Community which he later converted into his dairy barn. In 1926 he graduated from Granite Hill Boarding School in Sparta. For three years he worked with a CC Camp in California. Claudie was in the dairy business for forty years and was a member of Centennial Christian Church since he was eight years old. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Kitty Power Campbell, of the Centennial Community; a daughter, Claudette Campbell Lee of the Centennial Community; a son, Bobby Campbell and wife Judy of the Centennial Community; three grandchildren, Amanda Gail Webb and husband Allen of the Veazey Community, Christopher Robert Campbell of Atlanta, GA and Jason Alan Campbell of the Centennial Community; two great grandchildren, Aly Webb and Ty Webb; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his ten brothers and sisters. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, July 14, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at Centennial Christian Church with Dr. Joseph R. Bennett and Rev. Wayne Usry officiating. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Bobby Lanier, James Lanier, James Scoggins, John Myers, Danny Deraney and Larry Meeks. Honorary pallbearers are Doug Waters, Clabus Adams, Tom Bolton, Steve Mangus, Matthew Mangus, Pep Stone, Louis Rozier, Cecil W. Davis and Don Elrod. The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday night at the funeral home. McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
