Clarence Eugene Stewart

Clarence Eugene Stewart , 69, of White Plains, Ga. died Sunday, December 30, 2001 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center of Gainesville, Ga. He was born in Taliaferro County, GA on October 21, 1932 to James Willie Stewart and Bessie Jones Stewart. He was a lifelong resident of Greene County where he worked for 50 years as a dairy farmer. He graduated from Greensboro High School in 1952. He was a member of White Plains Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and was a member of the Board of Directors at BB&T.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years Frances M. Stewart; two daughters, Kathy S. Cawthon and husband Ken of Greensboro, GA. and Karen S. Sanders and husband Danny of Stephens, GA.; one son, Ken E. Stewart and wife Myra of White Plains, GA.; one sister, Anna Lois Pickering of Atlanta, Ga.; two brothers, Russell Stewart and Milton Stewart, both of White Plains, GA.;seven grandchildren, Jessi Cawthon, Maggie Cawthon, Hudson Sanders, Polly Cawthon, Stewart Sanders, Claire Sanders and Tyler Stewart. He was preceded in death by siblings Harry Stewart and Evelyn Thompson.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, January 1, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at White Plains Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Norman Waldrip officiating. Burial will follow at Siloam Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Richard Stewart, Charles Stewart, Jamie Stewart, Charles "Tut" Stone, Barney Vermillion, Dwight Hamner, Burt Pickering, Gary Pickering and Jimmy Pickering. Honorary pallbearers are Douglas Price, Wilburn Stewart, Johnny Eley, Harry Blanchard, David Price, Ike Moore, Don Channell, Maner Ellenberg and Bob Beeland. The family requests that memorials be made to White Plains Baptist Church. The family will receive friends Monday night from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home. McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
