Carrie Belle Dingler Obituary

Carrie Belle Owens Dingler, age 76, of Union Point, GA died Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at home surrounded by loved ones. Belle was born on March 11, 1940, in Crawfordville, GA, as the daughter of the late William A. Owens and Carrie Bell Vandiver Owens. She graduated from Alexander Stephens High School, Crawfordville, GA in 1958 and married William Richard Dingler, Sr. on June 7, 1958. Along with being a homemaker, and raising their three children, Belle worked with her husband at Lena-Hy Garment Company in Greensboro as General Manager for many years. As a member of the First Baptist Church of Union Point, Belle held numerous positions of leadership including, Sunday School teacher, WMU leader and was the church treasurer for twenty-five years. She was also active in civic affairs and was a charter member of the Pilot Club of Greene County and the Union Point Garden Club. She enjoyed flower gardening, reading , cooking, and caring for and being with her family and friends. She also enjoyed raising exotic birds, chickens and dogs.

Belle was preceded in death by her sisters, Hattie Gilland and Linda Stevens. In addition to her husband of fifty-eight years, Richard Dingler of Union Point, GA, she is survived by her children, Deborah (Earl) Wofford of Comer, GA, Ricky (Jan) Dingler and DeAndra (Steve) Lanier both of Union Point, GA; brother, Franklin Owens of Texas; sister Laura Smathers of Washington, GA; grandchildren, Brandi (Mac) Morgan, Brad Suddeth, Heather Wofford, Christopher (Daina) Dingler, Peyton Lanier, Austin Lanier and Travis Wofford; four great grandchildren, Jackson Dingler, Madelyn Dingler, Kate Morgan and Kessler Morgan; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, September 17, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, 206 Thornton Street, Union Point, GA 30669 with Rev. Marc Lhowe and Rev. Wayne Usry officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, Rhodes Street, Union Point, GA 30669. Serving as pallbearers are Peyton Lanier, Austin Lanier, Christopher Dingler, Mac Morgan, Ricky Newsom and Jay Beeland. Honorary pallbearers will be nephews: John Stevens, Robert Stevens, Philip Stevens and Cary Joe Gilland. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, September, 16, 2016 at McCommons Funeral Home. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation or First Baptist Church, 206 Thornton St., Union Point, GA, 30669.
