Betty Bassett Obituary

Betty Simpson Bassett, age 68, died Monday, May 10, 2010 at her residence in White Plains, Georgia. Mrs. Bassett was born in Fulton County, Georgia on March 4, 1942 and was the daughter of the late James Henry Simpson and Thelma Leone Wilson Simpson. She grew up in Fulton County, where she attended school. She married Charles Hendricks Bassett and they moved to Texas and also lived in California and Florida. While living in Panama City, Florida, she was an accountant for several different businesses. After moving back to Greene County in the early eighties, she owned and operated Burger Ranch in Union Point. Betty was a member of the Bethany Presbyterian Church of Greensboro.

Betty is survived by her daughters, Charla Joy Buice and husband Jason of Union Point, GA and Dawn Bassett of San Francisco, CA; her sons, Charles Lee Bassett and wife Christina of Greensboro, GA and James Bassett of San Francisco, CA; her sister, Kathy Ann Simpson of Powder Springs, GA; seven grandchildren, Jessica Bassett, Katlin Bassett, Erica Warren, Sage Warren, James Buice, William Buice and Kory Buice; one great grandchild, Matthew Bassett; and many cousins, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Hendricks Bassett and her sister, Norma Jean Simpson.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, May 15, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Bethany Presbyterian Church, 2999 Bethany Church Road, Greensboro, GA with Rev. Reggie Haslett officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Joe Simpson, Mike Simpson, Rick Simpson, Jason Buice, Allen Askew, Kory Buice, Dean McDonald and Josh Bentley. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday night at Callaway Funeral Home.
