Barbara Ann Lowery Tanner, age 64, of Greensboro, Georgia formerly of Whitney, Texas, died Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at her residence. Born on September 19, 1946 in Valley Head, Alabama, she was the daughter of the late Russell Lowery and Grace Pierson Lowery. She graduated from Valleyhead High School in Alabama and married Johnny Wayne Tanner on February 12, 1966. For fourteen years she was a cook at Silver Lee Nursing Home in Garland, Texas. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother and enjoyed spending time with her family and playing bingo. She and her husband had moved from Whitney, Texas to Greensboro in November of 2010.
She is survived by her husband of forty-four years, Johnny Wayne Tanner of Greensboro, GA; a daughter, Thersia Ann Moore and husband Robert of Whitney, TX; two sisters, Lois Dilbeck and husband Ed of McDonough, GA and Mary Dale Carter and husband Dale of Stone Mountain, GA; a brother, M. T. Lowery and wife Paula of Dallas, GA; three grandchildren, Carla Strickland, Randy Strickland and Steve Strickland; and a number of other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, February 12, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at McCommons Chapel with Rev. Jose L. Nieves officiating. Interment services will follow in the Buckhead City Cemetery, Buckhead Road, Buckhead, GA 30625. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noontil time for the service at McCommons Funeral Home.
