Babe Brittian Reese

Babe Brittian Reese, age 91, of Loganville, GA, formerly of Crawfordville passed away on January 26, 2016 at Embracing Hospice Care in Snellville, GA. Born in Rayle, GA on February 3, 1924 he was the son of the late Augustus Reese and Celia Ann Hendricks Reese. Most of his life was spent in Taliaferro County where he attended school in Sharon.  He was a proud veteran of the United States Army during World War II.  During his commission in the Army he served in the European Theater under General Patton earning the bronze star and purple heart. On October 22, 1945 he married the former Ruby Mae Jones.  His working career began with his father-in-law, Roger Jones as a carpenter.  He later became the Chief of Police in Crawfordville and at the time of his death  was still a deputy in the Taliaferro County Sheriff’s Office.  In his latter years he continued to do carpentry work around Crawfordville.  He was a faithful member of Crawfordville Baptist Church.  In February of 2015, he moved to Loganville to live with his son and daughter-in-law, Gerald Alan and Loretta Reese.

Babe was a devoted family man and is survived by his three sons, Richard Babe Reese and Barbara Cody of Cleveland, GA, Gerald Alan Reese and his wife Loretta of Loganville, GA and Barry Wayne Reese and his wife Cynthia of Clarksville, GA; sister, Rosa Lee Wentz of Lithia Spring, GA; 5 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; 5 step grandchildren; 10 step great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.  Babe was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Mae Jones Reese, in 2011 whom he had been married to for 67 years; son, Charles David Reese; and siblings, John Augustus Reese, Verna Mae Hunter Nunn, Hazel Davis and Mamie Lucinda Higdon.

Funeral Services will be held, Friday, January 29, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Crawfordville Baptist Church, 142 Memorial Drive, Crawfordville, GA 30631 with Rev. John Autry and Rev. David Bridwell officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening at Callaway Funeral Home, 208 N. Rhodes Street, Union Point, GA 30669.  Serving as pallbearers are Wayne Williams, Bobby Moore, Bobby Jones, Charles Greene, Marc Richards, and Robert Harold Kendrick.  Honorary pallbearers will be Glynn Fennell, Charlie Taylor and John Allen.  Any memorials may be made to Crawfordville Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, P.
