Almarine Rainwater “Al” Brown

Almarine Rainwater “Al” Brown, age 88, of Willacoochee, GA, formerly of Union Point, died at Palemon Gaskin Nursing Home in Ocilla, GA on Tuesday, August 9, 2016. Al was born in Union Point, GA on November 2, 1927 to the late Ira Clabe Brown, Sr. and Hager Rainwater Brown. He had a B.S. degree in Social Studies from Georgia College, a B.G.S. Degree in Behavioral Science from Indiana University, and a A.Div. and M.R.E. Degree from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.  While attending college Al was nominated in the Pi Tau Chi Society, a National Honor Society in Religion, and was accepted because of his Christian witness on campus, his lifestyle and his service to the college community. His career began at Georgia College where he was a teacher and he later retired as a Registered Medical Assistant. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Union Point joining May 10, 1938.  After retirement he enjoyed his time with family.

Al is survived by a niece, Nina Lott and husband Donald of Willacoochee, GA; a great niece, Cheryl Mizell; great nephew, Donald R. Lott, Jr.; 4 great, great nieces; and 5 great, great nephews; a number of other relatives and many friends.  He was preceded in death by his brother, Ira Brown, Jr.

Graveside Services will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Wisteria Cemetery, 211 N. Rhodes Street, Union Point, GA 30669 with Rev. Craig Foster Officiating. Serving as pallbearers are Donald Lott, Jr., Donald Lott, III, Allen Mizell, Alex Mizell, Matthew Mizell, and Noah Wolfert.  Callaway Funeral Home, 208 N.
